Khaeon wins the Japan GameJam
An international jury consisting of representatives from Cell, Taito, the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Japan and the Dutch games industry has chosen Khaeon’s Water Power as the best entry for the Japan GameJam competition. The competition was launched to promote the long-lasting relationship between Japan and the Netherlands.
Therefore, the competition participants were challenged to create a Dutch-Japan themed mobile game for the Japanese market.
Water Power turned the idea of water management into a fun puzzle game in which the player needs to solve a series of top-down mazes using the mobile phone’s tilt sensor to control the rising water level.Over the next few months, Water Power will be developed into a full featured product that will be launched during on the Tokyo Game Show in Japan in October 2008.
The Japan GameJam-competition has been initiated by the Royal Netherlands Embassy, the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the NLGD- and Dutch Game Garden-foundations in the Netherlands.
The Japan GameJam and 2008-2009 Commemorative Years Mobile Game is organized by: Royal Netherlands Embassy in Tokyo, Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NLGD Foundation, Dutch Game Garden Foundation. Joint sponsored by: CELL Co., Ltd, TAITO Corporation, Digital Content Association of Japan (DCAJ), Mobile Content Forum (MCF), KDDI Corporation, Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA).
