日本オランダ年 / Nederland in Japan 2008 2009

In 2008 and 2009 the Netherlands and Japan have been celebrating two milestones. The year 2008 marked the 150th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, and in 2009 we have been commemorating the 400th anniversary of commercial relations, which date back to 1609, when Tokugawa Ieyasu issued an official trade permit to the Netherlands. To celebrate this, more than 300 events have taken place throughout Japan and the Netherlands, covering areas such as culture, diplomacy, economy, agriculture, science & technology and sports.
