This is a group show of emerging European artists curated by Maxine Kopsa. Three selected artists are from the Netherlands - Alexandra Bachzetsis, Germaine Kruip, and Maaike Schoorel, and one from Britain, Simon Martin. These artists present their works for the first time in Tokyo. The title of the exhibition "In Praise of Shadows" refers to the famous Japanese author Junichiro Tanizaki's essay on aesthetics. Through this exhibition, Kopsa attempts to reevaluate the conventional Western notion of beauty through the perspective of Tanizaki with its emphasis on "shadow".
