Made through a collaborative process where the dancers have an active role in the creation of the work, ‘Japón’ is a piece spawned out of misunderstandings, wrong translations, preconceptions, language barriers, transliterations and all kinds of equivocal communicative strategies.
Trying to accept the necessity of these accidents and to embrace the dynamism of communicative processes, ‘Japón’ attempts to exploit the creative potential of these situations.
The piece is created in an intensive 4 weeks process, and will be performed by students of Ochanomizu University in the Dance Club performances 2008 at the Bunkyo Civic Center, in Tokyo.
