Born in Hirado, 400 years of Japanese-Dutch trade relations
In 1609 the Dutch Trading Post was established in Hirado after the Dutch gained the trading permission from Tokugawa Ieyasu. To commemorate these 400 years of trade relations between the two countries, Hirado will organise a range of events throughout the year under the banner of `2009 Hirado Holland Year`.

Dutch food stall
As one of these events, a Dutch Food Stall will be opened at the Tabira Spring Festival. It will bake and sell delicious `Pannenkoeken`; Dutch style pancakes. It will also provide more information on the other events during the year to promote both Dutch and Hirado culture.
