This year the 10th edition of the annual intercultural exchange
project 12xHolland will take place in and around the island of Hirado
in southern Japan. During 10 years about 40 Dutch artists were invited
by 12xHolland to live and work during one month in Hirado. Altogether,
they presented many workshops, school presentations, concerts,
exhibitions and more, during these 10 years. Also, in 2009 we are
celebrating the Hirado Holland Year and the 400 years of trade
relations between Holland and Japan. Because of all these festivities
a most special event will take place in Hirado this September: the
12xHolland Art Festival.
In the 12xHolland Art Festival 10 Dutch artists will present a music,
dance and art performance in Hirado. They will perform and combine
various styles of music, dance and visual arts in an atractive program
especially made for this occassion. Six of the artists are former
