On the occasion of “Nederland in Japan 2008-2009”, the Marunouchi and Yaesu sides of Tokyo Station, currently being renovated, will be wrapped up with a huge promotion wall (billboard) of 360sqm in total surface (L60m x H3m at both sides). The collage expresses 400 years of relations between the Netherlands and Japan, divided into 4 themes: history, tourism, design and transport.

The graphic design blends the very well known Dutch icons like windmills and tulips with images of important persons and objects throughout history.

Tokyo Station and Amsterdam Central Station became ”sister stations” on 11 April 2006. Both stations are the representative stations for each country and have a similar architectural structure with red bricks. The renovation works at Tokyo Station to bring the buildings back into their original glory, are scheduled to finish in 2011.
