2008年と2009年、日本とオランダは歴史的な節目の年を祝いました。2008年は、二国間の外交関係が樹立してから150周年にあたり、2009年は、1609年に徳川家康がオランダに公式な通商許可を与えて以来、両国の通商関係が400周年を迎えました。この記念の年を祝い、日本とオランダ両国で、文化、外交、経済、農業、科学技術、スポーツなど様々な分野で300を超えるイベントが開催されました。

In 2008 and 2009 the Netherlands and Japan have been celebrating two milestones. The year 2008 marked the 150th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, and in 2009 we have been commemorating the 400th anniversary of commercial relations, which date back to 1609, when Tokugawa Ieyasu issued an official trade permit to the Netherlands. To celebrate this, more than 300 events have taken place throughout Japan and the Netherlands, covering areas such as culture, diplomacy, economy, agriculture, science & technology and sports.
